SI-Schweitzer Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH was founded in 1993 by Dr. Eng. Bert Schweitzer, former Chief Engineer of  DASA subsidiary Rhein-Flugzeugbau GmbH.  Originally focused on FEA optimization of parts and structures for the automotive and aerospace industries, SI has evolved into an engineering partner in the aerospace industry, offering complete development and optimization of systems, parts, and structures, in both the conventional and innovative areas of technical developments. Engineering services are offered as a complete package, but we also work in close cooperation with the customer’s own development team.

The employees of SI primarily come from the aerospace industry, which, due to its high level of innovation, serves simultaneously as a guarantor for both well-founded and future-oriented solutions. Our employees have many years of experience in the development of aircraft, lightweight structures and systems.

In cooperation with Swiss manufacturer Pilatus Aircraft Ltd., SI offers complete Mission Aircrafts on basis of Pilatus PC-6 turboporter, which can be equipped for diverse missions with IR/EO-Cameras, LIDAR- and SAR-Systems.

For projects requiring the highest possible optical quality, SI offers an electrical lift system along with the IR/EO gimbal camera, Wescam MX-15i, which is certified for the PC-6 turboporter.

In a similar manner other aircraft and helicopters can be converted for missions.  SI covers all tasks in this area from the first brainstormings and concepts over the detailed design to manufacturing and supplementary type certification (STC).

For missions in which manned aircraft is either too dangerous or expensive, SI is currently developing an innovative UAV-system intended for use in controlled airspace.  The initial flight of the UAV is scheduled for the first quarter of 2010.

Finally, SI is a software distributor of the aerospace simulation program NEi Nastran. NEi Nastran,  developed by NEi Software Inc./USA, is a further development of the proven NASA-code Nastran, which is used worldwide in all technical areas.  In addition to distribution, SI provides complete customer support, consulting, and training.
